Cutek Oil Has Your Timber Covered: Here’s Why & How To Use It

Back

Whether it’s the blazing sun of summer, the damp chill of winter, or the in-between months where you get a bit of everything, exterior timber copes with a lot in Australia.

That’s why keeping it protected year-round is key. And when it comes to timber care that actually works with the wood (not just sitting on top of it), Cutek is hard to beat.

Proudly Australian-made and built for our climate

Cutek is proudly Australian-made and owned, and it’s been specifically designed to withstand our tough yet beautiful climate. From coastal humidity to dry inland heat, Cutek helps keep timber looking its best for years to come.

If you’re planning a sustainable build or simply refreshing the deck or cladding you already have, Cutek brings out the natural beauty in every grain.

How is Cutek different?

Rather than forming a surface film that can crack, peel or trap moisture, Cutek penetrates deep into the timber and protects it from the inside out. That means stronger, longer-lasting timber that stands up to whatever the seasons throw at it.

✔️ Repels water – Helps prevent rot, warping and swelling
✔️ Minimises splitting – Stabilises timber in harsh heat and cold
✔️ Deters termites and fungal decay – Long-term protection that lasts
✔️ No flaking or peeling – Easy maintenance with no sanding needed
✔️ Customise your look – Use it clear or add a colourtone to highlight the natural grain

Decks, cladding, furniture – whatever you’ve got

From spotted gum to blackbutt timber, decking, cladding, and everything in between, Cutek keeps your timber stable, protected, and looking fresh all year long. A quick touch-up coat now and then goes a long way, so whether you’re preparing for the wet, coming out of a dry spell, or just doing your usual upkeep, Cutek has your timber covered.

How to use Cutek

Applying Cutek is straightforward, and the results speak for themselves. Here’s a quick guide to get you started:

  1. Prep the timber
Make sure the surface is clean, dry, and free from any previous coatings, dirt or mildew. Use a timber cleaner like Cutek Quickclean or Proclean for best results.
  2. Apply Cutek oil
Stir well and apply with a brush, roller or lambswool applicator. One coat is often enough, but a second can be applied for deeper protection or colour.
  3. Wipe off excess
After about 30–60 minutes, wipe away any excess oil with a dry cloth to avoid patchiness.
  4. Recoat as needed
Depending on exposure and weathering, a maintenance coat every 6–12 months will keep your timber in top shape.

See the difference

Not sure if your timber really needs it? The results speak for themselves. Here are a few before-and-after shots using CUTEK® Extreme CD50, showing just how effective it can be at restoring tired, weathered timber.

Even well-worn decks and sun-beaten cladding come back to life with a bit of prep and a fresh coat. It’s not just about looks either – Cutek helps extend the lifespan of your timber, so you’re not replacing boards or battling rot down the track.
